Despite a looming divorce, an empty checkbook, and a struggling cleaning business, Cece Cavanaugh is determined to land on her own two feet. Adamant about staying a safe distance from the handsome detective who has her fantasizing about violating the morals clause in her prenuptial agreement, Cece dives headlong into her work.
Even though she has no free time to spare, Cece finds herself guilted into cleaning a hoarder’s home. Her discoveries in the condemned house are too shocking to ignore. Diamond-laden pachyderms, a secret cache of money, and a dead body lure Cece into launching an investigation that places her in direct contact with the one person she’s desperate to avoid--hunky Detective Case Alder.
With clues in hand, Cece runs down leads and eliminates suspects one by one. Her conclusion and brave accusation put a friend’s life in peril forcing Cece to hatch a plan to outsmart the killer. A daring move could either save Cece and her friend or lead to their demise.
An Interview with a Character
What is your full name?
Cecelia Jane Buchanan Cavanaugh, but everyone calls me Cece. Oh, except my soon-to-be-ex mother-in-law. She insists on calling me Cecelia which makes me feel like I’m being punished every time she uses my name. Ha! I guess I am. Talking to her is punishment.
What is your Profession?
I trained and worked as a nurse before my kids were born, but now I clean uh, crime scenes or really anything that will help me pay the bills.
What is your current favourite book or movie?
Maybe not so current, but I loved When Harry Met Sally. I’ve watched that movie a dozen times. It’s my go to on a rainy day. Even though my marriage didn’t work out, I’m a sucker for romance.
What is your go to comfort book or movie?
Oh, there are so many. Any movie I watched with my kids when they were growing up. I love anything animated. Watching those old favorites takes me right back to when I’d have both my daughters, tucked into their pjs, on either side of me on the couch while we watch movies. Sappy, I know.
If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?
While I’d wish for someone glamorous like Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, or Amy Adams, I’d probably get the cleaning woman from the The Carol Burnett Show.
What is your ideal evening?
Lately, my ideal evening is an empty house (there’s a story there), a crackling fire, a bottle (yes, a whole bottle) of wine, some nice chocolate, and the phone turned off. If I could have both my kids there, without bickering and arguing, that would be nice, but it’s not happening. The joys of motherhood!
Thanks for having me on today
