For culinary challenged Sarah Blair, there's only one thing scarier than cooking from scratch--murder!
Married at eighteen, divorced at twenty-eight, Sarah Blair reluctantly swaps her luxury lifestyle for a cramped studio apartment and a law firm receptionist job in the tired hometown she never left. With nothing much to show for the last decade but her feisty Siamese cat, RahRah, and some clumsy domestic skills, she's the polar opposite of her bubbly twin, Emily--an ambitious chef determined to take her culinary ambitions to the top at a local gourmet restaurant . . .
Sarah knew starting over would be messy. But things fall apart completely when her ex drops dead, seemingly poisoned by Emily's award-winning rhubarb crisp. Now, with RahRah wanted by the woman who broke up her marriage and Emily wanted by the police for murder, Sarah needs to figure out the right recipe to crack the case before time runs out. Unfortunately, for a gal whose idea of good china is floral paper plates, catching the real killer and living to tell about it could mean facing a fate worse than death--being in the kitchen!
Includes quick and easy recipes!

Observations from RahRah as told to Debra H. Goldstein
My name is RahRah. I was born in New Orleans. When I was a kitten, Mother Blair pulled me out of the hurricane’s swirling waters just before I drowned. She told anyone who would listen that I’d used up one of my nine lives. Because of that, she was going to name me after the storm, but once she realized I was a boy, she decided instead to call me RahRah.
Because her New Orleans home was destroyed, we moved to Baton Rouge. That’s where we both thought we would live out our lives, but her son, William Taft Blair, had a different idea. He decided because Mother Blair was getting old, we needed to move near him and his wife, Sarah, in Wheaton, Alabama. As he explained, he’d found a property that was perfect for all of us. While Bill and Sarah made their home in the big house fronting Main Street, there was a carriage house for Mother Blair and me to share. The idea was we’d be close to Bill and Sarah, but still far enough away that Bill’s allergy to me wouldn’t bother him. It worked. Bill kept his distance from the carriage house, but Sarah grew close to Mother Blair and me.
It was a sad day when Bill announced he wanted a divorce because he’d fallen in love with a woman Sarah refers to as Bimbo. Sarah had to move into an efficiency apartment, but I still saw her occasionally when she visited Mother Blair. I didn’t know what was going to happen to me when Mother Blair died just before their divorce was finalized. I could have been sent to a not very pleasant place because of Bill’s cat allergy, but happily, when he asked Sarah to take me, she immediately agreed. Her apartment may not be as lavish, but she certainly loves me.
Right now, our lives are in an uproar. Someone murdered Bill last night and the police think Emily, Sarah’s twin, did it. Sarah is determined to prove Emily’s innocence, but everyone is throwing up roadblocks. If that wasn’t enough, Bimbo, after breaking up Sarah’s marriage, is trying to take me away from Sarah. I have a lot of ideas what we could do to Bimbo. Do you have any we should consider?
