Poppy McAllister is happy about opening a Jersey Shore B&B--but working in a professional kitchen has always been her real dream. Now it's coming true, at least briefly, as she teams up with her former fiance, Tim--and his condescending partner, Gigi--during the high-profile Restaurant Week challenge. Poppy's specialty is pastries, despite her devotion to a Paleo diet. But if anyone can make glorious gluten-free goodies, it's Poppy.
Things get heated quickly--especially when some ingredients get switched and Tim's accused of sabotage. Relatively harmless pranks soon escalate into real hazards, including an exploding deep fryer. And now one of the judges has died after taking a bite of Poppy's cannoli--making her the chef suspect . . .

Poppy has agreed to team up with Tim (and Gigi) in order to take part in the inaugural Restaurant Week competition being run by a local television company. Initially she is disappointed as Tim and Gigi want her to be the Gofer for the week, and then the rules are clarified, each member of the team has to do one section of the three course meal, this means that Poppy can showcase her dessert making. From the start though there are problems, ingredients are mixed up, equipment doesn't work, a member of one of the teams is badly injured and then one of the judges dies.
Now if Tim (and Gigi) are going to keep their restaurants open Poppy needs to get to the bottom of what is going on, before someone decides that her days on this challenge are well and truly over.
