Kate Sharp thinks she’s landed the perfect job. As a Jane Austen aficionado, scouting locations to film the latest Austen adaptation feels like a dream. When her boss goes missing in the English countryside, Kate goes on the hunt to find him before her company can lose the gig.
As things go from bad to worse in the charming village, the locals become more and more suspicious of Kate and her crew. Kate must solve the mystery before her Austen dreams go up in smoke.
The Murder on Location Boxed Set includes the first three books in a series of cozy mysteries set in the English countryside. If you like pleasantly complex characters, quaint locations, and plots that keep you guessing, then you’ll love Sara Rosett’s witty, mysterious series.
This opens with book one and Kate trying to find her boss (before the company that has hired them goes with someone else!), Kate is sent because a) she love Jane Austen and b) she knows that her boss is a semi-recovered alcoholic, she and her boss's business partner are worried he has slipped back into his old ways, Kate teams up with the local location scout Alex, only to find her boss well and truly dead!
In book two Kate is back in England, she needed a new job after the events in book one led to the company she worked for closing, Alex has invited her back to work with the team he is with, but on her arrival she finds she is being shunted out of stuff and the new boss seems to really, really dislike her. Then she comes across vandalism and arson, oh and murder .... and Alex seems to be the Prime Suspect, she cannot believe this is possible and so starts snooping again (with only a couple of days to find out the truth as she has just been sacked!)
Book three, back working with the English company (the boss realised she was being unfair and apologised), this time Kate is invited to stay at the local stately home which is running a Regency weekend, the Lady of the Manor (Beatrice Stone) is a friend of Kate's and wants her on board as there has been a spate of rather unpleasant poison pen letters, which are escalating, and Kate's boss wants her there to scout out potential filming spots. As if the poison pen letters (and tweets and so forth) aren't enough there is a murder in a locked room, and the finger is being pointed at Kate! This time she needs to save her own skin (and make peace with Alex's young sister, if she can!)
