When Carrie Kennersley, owner of a two-part bakery that serves tasty treats to both dogs and humans, learns that a local killer is being paroled, she worries that danger will come barking at her door.
Ten years ago, Mike Holpurn was convicted of murdering the first female mayor of Knobcone Heights. Now, shortly after his release, Holpurn puts the whole town on edge by yelling at the former mayor's husband, Henry Schulzer. After Schulzer is found dead, everyone assumes Holpurn is the culprit. But Carrie thinks there's more to the story, especially since Holpurn claims Schulzer was the one who killed the mayor. Carrie is determined to uncover the truth, even if it means things will get ruff.
An Interview With A Character
What is your full name?
Carrie Kennersly
What is your Profession?
I am a veterinary technician, which also led me to my second profession: owning two bakeries! I bought Icing on the Cake, a people bakery, from a friend who had to leave our town of Knobcone Heights and turned half of it into Barkery and Biscuits, where I bake and sell the healthy dog treats I created as a vet tech. I still have a part-time job as a vet tech, so this all works out well.
What is your current favourite book or movie?
I really can't say for sure, but since my adventures solving murders have been turned into books by Linda O. Johnston, I guess I have to say any of those books are ones I like and actually read. They are: Bite the Biscuit, To Catch a Treat, Bad to the Bone, Pick and Chews, and the latest one, For A Good Paws.
What is your go to comfort book or movie?
I can't name just one, but my life is so filled with pets, including rescues at Mountaintop Rescue, owned by my friend Councilwoman Billi Matlock, that I enjoy reading and watching nearly anything with dogs or cats or other animals as long as no animal is hurt. And although I try to stay away from stories where other regular people solve crimes, too, since that's too close to home... well, I sometimes read and enjoy them anyway!
If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?
Who would I like to be in a book? Me! I guess. I can't say that it's fun to be solving so many murders, but since I've been doing so and my stories have been featured in those books, I guess that's the right answer. And I don't really know who I'd like to have play me in a movie.
What is your ideal evening?
I love spending evenings with the guy who's become most important to me, Dr. Reed Storme, a veterinarian who works at the Knobcone Veterinary Clinic where I'm a vet tech. We get together often with my sweet dog Biscuit, a golden toy poodle-terrier mix, and his Belgian Malinois Hugo.
