Taylorsford Public Library director Amy Webber's friend "Sunny" Fields is running for mayor. But nothing puts a damper on a campaign like an actual skeleton in a candidate's closet. Sunny's grandparents ran a commune back in the 1960s on their organic farm. But these former hippies face criminal charges when human remains are found in their fields--and a forensic examination reveals that the death was neither natural nor accidental.
With Sunny's mayoral hopes fading, Amy sets her wedding plans aside, says "not yet" to the dress, and uses her research skills to clear her best friend's family. Any of the now-elderly commune members could have been the culprit. As former hippies perish one by one, Amy and her friends Richard, Aunt Lydia, and Hugh Chen pursue every lead. But if Amy can't find whoever killed these "flower children," someone may soon be placing flowers on her grave.
Victoria Gilbert writes entrancing and engrossing stories that pull you win and leave you wanting more!
Amy is being snowed under, but surprisingly NOT with work but with well meaning people giving advice on how to plan her wedding, as well as this her good friend Sunny is hoping to take a backseat at the library as she is running for the position of Mayor of Taylorsford (she would still work part time mind you) and then both of their worlds are turned upside down when a skeleton is found on the farm owned by Sunny's grandparents. It would appear that the skeleton has been there since the time the farm was a commune in the early '60s and the current Mayor is salivating at the thought that this will impact on Sunny's chances of winning, this would be bad enough but more ex commune members are turning up dead and there is a new man in town looking into the culture and disappearances of people from the commune days.
When the skeleton is identified as a commune member that had left Sunny's Grandparents are in the spotlight and so Amy needs to dig deep into the library archives to find out the truth and hope that she isn't digging her own grave at the same time!
An Interview With A Character
What is your full name?
Richard James Muir
What is your Profession?
I’m a professional contemporary dancer and choreographer who also teaches dance at a local university.
What is your current favourite book or movie?
My fiancée, Amy Webber, and I both love classic and foreign films, so we have a long list of favourites. But I’d have to say our latest discovery is a Russian language film called I AM DRAGON. It is cinematically gorgeous, well-acted, and very romantic. (Amy claims I am the more romantic one in our relationship, and, honestly, she’s right).
What is your go to comfort book or movie?
I’m not sure if I would label it a “comfort,” but as a dancer, I do appreciate the film, THE RED SHOES. Of course, I love all the classic Hollywood musicals, especially the ones that features the brilliance of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. But I’ve lately discovered Bollywood films and been inspired by the wonderful dancing in many of those movies. It’s a new obsession of mine.
If someone was to play you in a movie who would it be? OR what would be the character you would want to be in a book?
I don’t know who I’d want to play me. I just know they’d have to be able to dance, or at least move like a dancer. That’s a little limiting, since I’d want them to be a good actor too. Since Sony Pictures Television has optioned the first two books in the Blue Ridge series, if your readers have any ideas, I’d love to hear them!
What is your ideal evening?
I really have two quite different answers to this – first, any time I can perform, either my choreography or the works of others, with great dance partners. There is nothing more exhilarating to me than dancing.
But I also love spending time at home, with Amy, of course – watching a movie or TV, or a recorded musical or dance production. Add a good wine, and my two cats, Loie and Fosse, snuggled up close by, and that equals a winning evening for me.
